SLO County Democrats Endorse in SLO City Council Race
The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party has endorsed Carlyn Christianson for San Luis Obispo City Council. The Special All-Mail City Election to fill a seat vacated by former Council member Andrew Carter will begin when ballots are mailed out on May 20. June 18 is the final day of balloting
Mike Heyl, Chair of the SLOCDP Endorsement Committee, said that Christianson was seen as the best candidate for the vacancy “because she has been a dedicated community volunteer in San Luis Obispo for 20 years and she also has deep experience in planning and land use issues.”
Democratic candidates for office are reviewed by the Democratic Central Committee, and an endorsement requires a 2/3 vote of the Committee. Democratic Party Chair, Pat Harris, said: “We hope our members will be enthusiastic volunteers with Carlyn’s campaign. We are eager to get a candidate with her vision, energy and experience on the SLO City Council.” Christianson has also been endorsed by Mayor Jan Marx and Councilmember John Ashbaugh.
