- Drop in to the Sea Otter "show and tell"
- View tide pool treasures in the touch tank
- See natural treasures of the estuary up close through microscopes
- Check out treasures from curatorial
- Go on a treasure hunt in the museum
Special Events:
10:00 a.m. Orienteering Hunt (90 min.) at Morro Bay State Park Picnic area (ages 7, and up with adult) Use a map and compass to find treasures hidden in the park.
11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Native American Crafts for children
11:00 a.m. Puppet Show, It’s a Big Ocean
11:30 a.m. Short nature walk to Windy Cove (wear closed shoes)
1:30 p.m. Puppet Show, It’s a Big Ocean

Free refreshments will be available and expect some animal guest appearances.

Monarch Grove 2012 - 2013 Season Opening Day Celebration - October 27
The grove will have its usual 10am to 4pm open hours with the following activities planned:
10:40 - Welcome by State Park Officials
11:00 - Informational talk by State Park Docent
11:30 - Activity tables will open and will include origami, face painting, discovery, and crafts. Informational booths will be manned by State Parks, Monarch Alert, and the cities of Pismo Beach and Grover Beach.
2:00 - Activity tables will close and the afternoon docent talk will be given.
All are invited to join us in welcoming back our beautiful annual visitors.
Skeleton Sunday - October 28, 12-4pm.
Skeleton Sunday will return to the Museum of Natural History in Morro Bay, with activities for all ages, featuring the Museum's fantastic bone collection. We will have owl pellets to dissect, skeleton puzzles to assemble, a human skeleton to compare with other animals, bones bingo, a skull workshop for older children and adults, a bones guessing game, and bones crafts. This year we will add some new activities focusing on teeth. Our younger visitors will enjoy our skeleton prizes and favors. Small children can color pictures and make bones bandanas; older children can conduct experiments with chicken bones. And the skull workshop is a great activity for adults. The afternoon will conclude with scary stories to delight visitors of all ages. Click here to view event flyer.
