Pacific Wildlife Care
PWC's mission is to rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and return to their natural habitat, orphaned or injured wildlife, and to educate our community to value and respect wildlife and the environment we share with them. They is licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and is an active member of the UC Davis Oiled Wildlife Care Network. PWC's education and outreach volunteers do approximately 100 presentations a year to schools, churches and service organizations in our community. Read More

The Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival is taking reservations for the 2013 Festival, which will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, January 18-21. Join the 500 birders from around the country at this year's festival, which features 113 different events, including pelagic cruises, boat rides, birding by bicycle, kayaking on the Morro Bay Estuary, van trips and informative workshops. Many events are designed for beginning birders. The most popular events fill quickly (some within the first five minutes), so check out the Festival's website and register early: www.morrobaybirdfestival.org. There is no registration fee for the Family Day events, which takes place on Saturday January 19. Read More

All MBFOL members in good standing are welcome to attend the General Membership Meeting on Friday, November 16 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the John Kim Room at the Library. A light lunch provided by Beach House Bistro follows the Board meeting. Please plan to attend and to celebrate with the Board an incredible year of advocacy and support for your Morro Bay Library.
At the November meeting, Nominations Chair Joan Petersen will present a full slate of volunteers who are ready to serve on the Friends' Board for next year. I hope you will confirm their commitment by casting your vote for this slate of outstanding leaders and Library advocates.
