Who We AreThe Slo Coast Journal is all about small town and rural life in one of the finest, most beautiful areas of the country. An amazing collection of eclectic, fascinating, and talented individuals from all walks of life have chosen to make this part of the coast their home. Those who don't already live here, wonder how they can make the move. Our writers are an enthusiastic group of people who are on these pages to share their love of this special place. In case you are wondering, each is asked to pick a favorite animal for their banner. Some are a bit perplexing, but, oh well. Not only are the writers enthusiastic, they are sometimes a bit - ahh - let's say "unique." We welcome your input, suggestions, and, of course, praise. You can write to your favorite columnists from this page: Contact Us The opinions expressed, whether by a columnist, paid advertisement, or editorial content, do not necessarily reflect the views of this publication's management or staff. We edit, but don't stifle. ArchivesAll previous issues are archived. 2009 - July, August, September, October, November, December. 2010 - January, February Ideas for ColumnsDo you have an idea for an ongoing column? We'd love to hear it. The criteria for being considered is simple - your column would have to pertain to the area of the coast we cover (Los Osos to Cambria). So, what's on your mind? Right now we are looking for someone to interview locals and write about them. We'd also love to have some participation by students. Interested? Contact: Judy Sullivan Submit Fiction or PoetryWe happily support local poets and fiction writers. If you would like to have a place to share your work, contact Judy Sullivan. Submit PhotographsDo you have a photograph or three you would like to share with our site visitors? The photographs used must be of or submitted by photographers from the Los Osos to Cambria area. Send them along to Judy Sullivan. If they are used, you will be credited, of course, and, if you like, we will link to your site. You can also post your best images to the Flickr group Slo Coast Journal Photographs for consideration to be chosen for our Great Shots page. The majority of photographs used on this site can be clicked on to see the original, larger version. There are several that don't include links, generally because the photographer just doesn't have a display page. One of those images is on this page - the Pelican and Morro Rock image. It was one of the last photos taken by Stan Thompson. The images used on banners throughout the site are shared with us by a variety of photographers. Some do so anonymously. Where possible we like to acknowledge their talent and generosity. These folks include, but are not limited to, Mike Baird, Jerry Kirkhart, Cleve Nash, Malcolm Riordan, Steve Sainsbury, and Debbie Tubridy. AdvertisingAdvertising opportunities are available throughout the Slo Coast Journal pages. We welcome businesses, individuals, web sites, and organizations. Ads can be placed on the page of your choice, though space is limited. Jump right in and support your favorite columnist. Payment is paid directly to the writer and is based on a flat rate per month. Some writers choose not to accept advertising and their decisions will be respected. Contact Advertising for more information. We reserve the right to refuse advertising that, in our opinion, does not reflect the standards of the Journal. Receive a reminder to visit the Journal when the next issue or update is available. Send email to Update with "Update" in the subject line.
