Dear Editor,

From: Rosemary Wilvert
San Luis Obispo

On the Fourth of July, I happened to read the informative, eloquent article by Karl Kempton and Carol Georgi, "Big Oil's Gifts Keep on Giving" — the best perspective I've seen on the effect of oil spills on the Central Coast. Thanks to educational efforts such as your journal, someday we'll celebrate Independence (from Big Oil) Day.

What a wonderful review of  How to Mellify a Corpse. My review of your review: Witty, informative, and compelling. Vicki León is one of my favorite writers. Her Uppity Women series is a hoot!! I went straight to Amazon and put my name on the list to receive a copy as soon as the publication date comes. Vicki - You go girl! What is next on her agenda?

[Note from the Editor: Vicki will be doing publicity for "Mellify," including a bit online at Three Pipe Problem.blogspot and various bookstores and book club groups. Then she dives into research on her next book, working title First You Take a Hippo's Forehead.]

We tried the restaurant Fausto and Julia recommended (July issue), Giancarlo's, and it was fabulous! My partner and I suggest the pizza with Prosciutto di Parma, arugula, mozzarella, and figs on your next visit.  Absolutely to die for! Thanks for the succulent review.

This is my favorite web site and I visit several times a month to savor each article. The photographs on each page are stunning. Do you have a staff of photographers or can people just submit them? The Great Shots pages are just wonderful. Where do you find them?

[Note from the Editor: The photographs are selected mainly from those of  Flickr users who live in this area. Thank goodness we are blessed with great photographers to capture the beauty.]
