Dear Editor,

From: Dorothy Cutter
Morro Bay

I will not vote for Carla Borchard because her voting record is against my best interests and those of my friends and neighbors.  Her voting record is almost 100% for special interests and not for the community.

Some examples are voting to allow granny units to grow from 900 sq. feet to 1200 sq. feet and taking away the parking restrictions . She also voted to not allow the granny unit to not have any relationship with the owner of the primary house.  This turns the city into vacation rentals.  Do you want to be surrounded by short term vacation rental units?

She voted to allow a permit for a developer to build a large house on Cerrito Peak and to partially use public land, OUR LAND!  And she voted for this permit without the usual requirements and the things that every other homeowner has to do.  Who benefits  from that?

She has voted for thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars to be spent on consultants and a lobbyist for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and we are not one step closer to getting a plant than when the city started years ago.  Why is that?  She refuses to consider the facts!

She voted to get rid of all the planning commissioners who did not agree with the city council on the way they were proceeding with the Waste Water Treatment Plant.  The commissioners were looking at the facts.  Do you fire the messenger?  These were some of the best planning commissioners we have had.

I have lived in Morro Bay for 53 years and I do not want it to turn into a vacation rental city nor do I want only the needs of special interests to be considered.  I will vote for Jamie Irons.

From: Marie and Jack Harrison
Morro Bay

We moved here from Santa Maria three years ago and started following local politics. We thought small town politics was interesting, but this is (sadly) a laugh fest.

Aren't our politicians supposed to be doing what is right for all of its citizens, not just a select few businessmen and an eg0-centric, phony mayor? What have they done in the last two years that have made our lives better? There have even been times we have been so angry as to turn the whole mess off and go for a walk to cool down. Corruption in big city governments - small potatoes to what goes on here with that Yates guy and his yes men/woman. What a sad, pathetic joke!!

Please, for God's sake, run that bum and his jokers out and bring on replacements who will be honest and will care about all of us who live here. Is that even possible? We love Noah Smukler - can he be cloned? Or at least get some support and a voice? We love Morro Bay but didn't know about the black, oily underbelly. Who is coming along to replace these people and give Noah some support?

[Note from Editor: Check out our elections section, Marie and Jack. Then get out there and drum up support for the candidates you like.]
