Museum of Natural History Seeks Volunteer Electrical Engineer
The Morro Bay Museum of Natural History seeks a retired or semi-retired electrical engineer who can volunteer some time to help troubleshoot and repair exhibits. Our previous volunteer engineer has moved out of the area, but left two extensive manuals filled with diagrams, parts lists, and repair procedures. The Museum has a number of exhibits with electronic or computer controls. We need someone with a background in circuit design and/or repair who can help us keep our exhibits running, at least on a monthly basis. To inquire or get further information, please contact Rouvaishyana, Museum Manager at (805) 772-2694 ext. 105 or via email.

Here's What's Happening With the Morro Bay State Parks
Museum of Natural History in July
Pecho Ranch Day at Montana de Oro
Pecho Ranch Day will be held Saturday, July 9, 11:00 AM-2:00 PM at the Spooner Ranch House at Montana de Oro State Park. The event features Living History and early settler crafts, tools, and games representing the late 1800s-early 1900s. There will be special activities for children of Junior Ranger age, 7-12 years old. Homemade refreshments will be available and we'll be selling Cal Poly ice cream.
Speaking of sweets . . . do you bake a great pie? If so, be sure and enter the pie baking contest! A. B. Spooner will be the judge. Just be sure and bring your entries by 11:30.
This is a family event where you can experience quilting and whittling, chat with representatives from 4H, enjoy the Spooner History Walk (at 1:00pm), and learn all about native plants and the art of stitchery. There will be barrels of fun for all ages at Grandpa's Farm.
All of this great fun, accompanied by the toe-tapping music of the Crustacea Jazz Band, is yours to enjoy. You and your family are sure to have a great time in this beautiful, ocean-view setting.
We'd love to see you there. Join us!

Interpretive Master Plan in the Works
Meanwhile, State Park staff and docents will embark on a process to develop an Interpretive Master Plan. This plan will address interpretive and educational programming needs at Morro Bay State Park, including the Museum of Natural History, for about 20 years. It will point the way toward exhibit renovations at the Museum beginning in the next few years. Our target completion date is July, 2012.
