Gatekeeper

By Mandy Davis

Look behind
the path littered
skeletons of perceptions
PAST
shaking their bones
eyeless sockets
see the truth
in apathy and self serving

The horizon vanishes
in a dark tangle
and blurry images
of grotesque demons
one with “me”
one with “take”
another with “dominion”
seared into fleshy bodies

Look down
your feet are here
now and present
one foot follows the path
one foot stays
in the mucky past
looking to leave
past generation’s defilement

Look up
the path is clear
Earth sings the way
Sky pulls your soles
past transgressions
no longer dictate
with taker promises
of a shining future

Step forward
intuition will lead
She gentles you on
enter the web
open your ears
see with your heart
learn the language
of the earth.

Ahead
right in the middle
locked and waiting

the gate

new generations
line the path
waiting and watching
for future’s impetus

A sign
a way
a mentor
a tribe
a warrior
an impeccable spirit
to hold it open
to guide the way

 Prophesies true
the time is upon us
we near the gate
earth shaking
creation trembles
sky calls
and all life heeds
upon the path

Open it!
We are the gatekeepers
have courage

Mandy Davis is a born and raised Central California kid that "ain't so young any more" (young at heart counts though).

Having recently returned to her home here on the SLO Coast after years of activism with Sea Shepherd, and a brief but necessary residence in Florida, she is returning to her roots and work as an environmental educator and a naturalist and guide. The beauty and diversity of the Morro Bay ecosystem is unparalleled as a teaching location and a source of inspiration for her creative endeavors.

An honoring of the earth and sharing the "Language of the Earth" is ultimately her focus and intention. These literary offerings are a manifestation of her dreams, visions, experiences and meanderings They are part of a lifetime of being a wild-heart.
