Morro Photo Expo, a non-profit organization that offers a weekend program of photography instruction and opportunities, held it's second event at the end of last October. The Expo committee has designated the Morro Bay High School multimedia program as the beneficiary of their distribution this year.
The Photo Expo has purchased two Canon Rebel cameras, valued at $699 each, to donate to the school program. According to Expo spokesman Howard Ignatius, "Currently 120 students are sharing 18 cameras, so this seemed like a very appropriate donation from the PHoto Expo to help these young photographers learn their craft.
In addition to the cameras, the Morro Photo Expo is also sponsoring a $500 college scholarship for an outstanding senior in the program.
Some of the Expo instructors will provide ongoing support to the MBHS students by participating in student portfolio reviews. Liz Moore is the instructor for the MBHS Art, Electronic Media and Web Design Classes.
The 2010 Photo Expo included a youth photography show and competition, presented in cooperation with the Morro Bay Art Association.
The Morro Photo Expo 2010 was held October 23-25 in Morro Bay for three days of instruction and field work to enhance photographers techniques.
