Shutterbugs

Featuring Devra Cooper

If you are hesitant about picking up a camera and becoming a shutterbug, feeling you just can't match what's going on in the Great Shots section, Devra Cooper should certainly be your inspiration for jumping right in and enjoying this fabulous hobby. She may not have the experience or the intense camera and lens obsession of many, but she has the eye for great shots. Check these out, read what she has to say, then visit her Flickr pages for more.

White-crowned Sparrow

Carrying a camera in my pocket and discovering the fun of documenting life through the lens opened a whole new world to me.  My camera has become my friend and almost constant companion. It helps me to slow down, see the world in a different way and be more appreciative of the wonders all around me.

Great-horned Owls
Great-horned Owl Family

One of my favorite things is to take the camera and go for a ride, my preference being dirt roads where I can stop whenever I see something interesting.  Nature photography — owls and hawks, especially — interests me most.  I love the challenge of finding a Great Horned Owl and taking a photo I can share with friends.

Possum Arabian Horse Black-crowned Night Heron

In 2006 I bought a Fuji digital point and shoot camera (to replace my large 35 mm camera with all its lenses) and took that little camera on a trip to Baja.

Butterfly Brown Pelican

More recently I treated myself to a new camera and am feeling a bit overwhelmed by all its bells and whistles.  My New Year's resolution is to learn how to use it and continue with my wonderful hobby.
