A Bird's Eye View by Mike Stiles - As I write this at the end of February, California is in the midst of a major drought. I have had just 2.7 inches of rain so far this season. Compounded on the fact that I had only 8 inches last year, and less than 10 inches the year before puts us in serious water debt. Pacific Wildlife Care - After a short seasonal lull, staff and volunteers at the Pacific Wildlife Care Rehabilitation Center are gearing up for Baby Season, a frenetic period that begins in early spring and extends well into summer, kicked off by an influx of baby mammals, usually the second week of March. This year, however, both the timing and numbers of animals are anyone’s guess, says Kathy Duncan, Senior Rehabilitator and Education Director.
