The Beauty of Low Tides

I so enjoy low tides at the beach as so much is revealed that,
at most times, is just out of view. There are many grasses that
are almost iridescent and of so many colors. As the water
reveals the greenery the various patterns of how they lay when
exposed is amazing. |
Low tides expose rocks and animals that rarely are out of water
and spend most of their time and lives in the wetness and
shadows of the ocean. Spending time checking out tide pools can
reveal some of the smallest shells and patterns on rocks that
were made by unknown forces.
These tides also seem to draw people and definitely shore birds
and other water fowl. This exposure presents opportunities for
creatures
of all kinds to partake and enjoy the bounty offered them. I
have even seen a ground squirrel venture into the grasses in
search of some tasty morsel that otherwise would be unavailable
to it.
Low tides in the early mornings are a great time to explore the
beaches which seem similar to some barren landscapes of another
land. This is a great opportunity to find abandoned sea shells
and sand dollars. Tiny holes with erupting bubbles may appear
and tracks of shore birds looking for edibles are almost always
present.
These times, for me, are especially wonderful. There are secrets
revealed which the rising sun joyfully assists in displaying.
There is a peacefulness with the receding water as otherwise
unexplored life shares itself and accepts its present state of
being, before all to soon slipping back into the depths of its
watery world. It is very easy for me to get lost in time
meandering through this magical time and space.
