MB Speed Checked
by Drones
This bit of local humor appeared, then immediately disappeared, at Cloisters Community Park in Morro Bay.
Here's the story: A couple of weeks ago at the grass field in the center of the park, the city Recs and Parks Department put up a speed limit sign for bicyclists. A short while later some clever wag installed the sign below – it was very funny as well as "pointedly political" (and rather nicely done, as well). It was only up for a couple of days before being removed.
Feel Better Forever

Within a few months, however, the situation deteriorated to the point where Doug couldn't lift his arm and his sleep was interrupted nightly because of the pain. Read More

Initiative Could Close State's Nuclear Plants
After a similar effort was scuttled last year by false information about its side effects, an initiative to close Diablo Canyon and San Onofre nuclear power plants appears headed for the ballot next year, providing California voters with the opportunity to protect the state and its inhabitants against what some call "disasters waiting to happen." The initiative caps several years of mounting public fear of the lack of safety of those plants and what could happen as a result. Read More
Rezoning of Morro Bay Power Plant Proposed to Eliminate It
A proposal that the property on which the Morro Bay Power Plant is located be rezoned to eliminate the old plant was presented to the Morro Bay City Council and the audience at the Council's regular meeting on Tuesday, February 26.
It was submitted by Barbara Doerr, a Morro Bay resident, who called for a plan to "Rezone Power Plant property to non- industrial usessuch as coastal-dependent, visitor serving commercial recreation, fishing/boating support services, local recreation, educational, and habitat restoration." Cayucos, Morro Bay Lurking Behind WWTP
Summary: The Morro Bay-Cayucos meeting on February 14 to discuss and supposedly to try to resolve differences over their planned wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) seems to best be described as "nothing happened." But that was then. What had taken place about the future of the WWTP a few days before the meeting will surprise a lot of people. It certainly surprised the Morro Bay City Council and its staff who had no idea what the Cayucos Sanitary District board was up to behind the Council's back. And now it's tit for tat. Read More
Native American Mascots
Let me begin by saying that the fact I even have to write an article concerning Native American Mascots is a shame. These racist images and names offensive to American Indian people should have been long gone by now. Yet here they are, still tomahawk-chopping us with racism in sports and media while they grin at us like that red-faced racist "chief wahoo,"who just moved into Templeton last year and is the reason that I have to explain what is wrong with Native American Mascots. I get a little sick and tired of trying to explain what is racist about these names and mascots. This is not about political correctness. It is about racism on a national scale, and it must stop. Shutterbugs - Featuring Sylvia Sanchez
Photography, to me, is a passion, a second job, an excuse to go outside, an opportunity to meet others, and a wonderful way to feed my need for creativity. I am constantly seeing the beauty that's all around us. A romantic at heart, photography helps fuel this passion.

You Are Not Who They Think You Are
People keep asking me my age. Could it be my white hair and mustache? Maybe they think I used to be the oldest cop in the world. I usually answer with the words I heard long ago, "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" Read More
