Would you like to be that person who is so strong, so balanced, and so flexible you could grab some mane and swing up gracefully onto a horse without the aid of a rock, a bench, a tree stump, or someone to give you a boost? Morro Bay Seeks Pictures
of the Past

 As the city's 50th anniversary approaches, Morro Bay residents are taking a look back at the people, places and events that helped make the community what it is today. Anyone with ties to the area is being asked to leaf through family photo albums and find pictures that could be used during a citywide celebration next year to mark 50 years since Morro Bay became a city on July 17, 1964. Cayucos May Seek to Remain at Existing WWTP 
— To the Detriment of Morro Bay

The City of Morro Bay and the Cayucos Sanitary District (CSD) currently share a wastewater treatment facility located on Atascadero Road in Morro Bay under their Joint Powers Agreement (JPA). The two entities had been working together to develop a new, modern facility to replace the current one. However, a technical memorandum might be considering backing out of the partnership and might attempt to continue treatment of its sewage at the existing Atascadero Road Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Morro Bay. Sierra Club Sues Pismo Beach to Halt Spanish Springs

Development Would Increase Carbon Pollution Emissions, Deplete Water Supply and Threaten Wildlife

The Sierra Club has filed suit against the City of Pismo Beach over the controversial proposed Spanish Springs project, citing deficiencies in the projects Environmental Impact Report (EIR). Spanish Springs, if approved,  would significantly expand the size of the city and bring more than 400 homes, 150 hotel rooms, a conference center, condos, vineyards and a golf course into the rural Price Canyon area north of Pismo Beach.  The George Zimmerman's trial was about a non-black volunteer vigilante killing an unarmed, seventeen-year-old African American boy named Trayvon Martin. The trial has brought racism to the front pages on America's newspapers and as the lead story on most television news.

Martin was walking down the street, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and carrying a small package on his way home from the store. He was not breaking any laws nor was he armed.  Read More

Biographer of Herman Melville, Cited in Three National Publications

Morro Bay resident Hershel Parker, biographer of literature giant Herman Melville, was a finalist for the 1997 Pulitzer Prize in Biography and twice, in 1997 and 2003, won the highest award for biography from the Association of American Publishers. This year he has been cited in three national publications for his new book, Melville Biography: An Inside Narrative. Read More
