Dear Editor,

I have lived in Morro Bay for 52 years and attended many city council meetings and Bill Yates was the worst mayor we ever had. He supported projects that degraded our quality of life and he was very rude to people to the point that it was unpleasant to attend a council meeting. His priorities were for himself and his buddies and his appointments to the planning commission were not in the best interest of our town.
I cannot vote for Rick Grantham because of his voting record. He voted for RDA which would have designated a large portion of north Morro Bay as blighted. He voted for a convention center on the Embarcadero which will have no parking and will slow down business while it is being built. He voted for the new sewer treatment plant which will cost at least $10 million more than newer technologies because he refuses to look at state of the art which will give us a better, smaller, and cheaper plant. These are just a few of his recent votes on projects that will have a huge impact on our city and shows his inability to do his own research.

I don't count cause I don't get to vote here, but I love the towns and people here on the coast. What I hope is that before people choose who they are going to vote for that they will really find out about what each politician really does, not just what they say. It seems to me they pretty much say what they think people want to hear. Are they so ashamed of their real views that they can't sell them?

It is fascinating to read news features that are detailed, well-researched, and aimed at giving the reader some real grist to consider about what is going on that will have real impact on their day-to-day lives. Would that all citizens have access to this sort of in-depth analysis about their own movers and shakers. Not only would the electorate all over the country have more knowledge of what is really going on, but politicians and committee members, knowing that people see their real actions and reasons, would have to at least try to do the right thing. Is there any chance we can steal Jack McCurdy away from you?
[Note from Editor: I suspect some of our "movers and shakers" would like that, Ruben. But we plan to hold on to him and our other writers.]
