Each day we awaken with the faith that with daybreak the Sun will shine its light upon the earth as the dawning of a fresh new day with all its possibilities. As your Astro Guide, I will highlight significant planetary shifts that will be occurring during the current month that will prove to be interesting and helpful as you express yourself in the world.

"Roll out those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer…" Nat King Cole

The focus of the Sun Rays for the first three weeks of June finds this glorious celestial star in the mutable air sign of Gemini until June 21st. Gemini is characterized by the changeable element of air that becomes increasing more unpredictable during the second mercury retrograde period of 2014. The duration begins on June 7th and changes to a direct motion on July 1st. Mercury's station into retrograde is a period of time to revisit, redo and repeat all forms of communication, which includes anything that has to do with time or travel. The affects from another retrograde period has the ability to play havoc with our schedules, travel plans, commitments and modes of transportation. It is not a good time to sign contracts or begin anything new. It is a good time to revisit projects, finish projects, be creative and go within.

Lookout for this month's Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 12th, followed by the third grand cross on June 14th and 25th. In our locale of the Central Coast this full moon will be transiting the 4th house of home. The sign of Sagittarius represents an expansive view of the world and other cultures. When we integrate the energies, we are given an opportunity to embrace other cultures, leading to the widening of our consciousness about the meaning of the word Home. A Full Moon "en-lightens" our lives. If we embrace the light it will shine on the challenging corners of the Cardinal Grand Cross.

The main word when describing the planet Mercury is communication. During the month of June, Mercury is stationed in nurturing Cancer until June 17th. Our messages will be delivered softly or not at all, especially, since Mercury is in its retrograde status. When Mercury is stationed in the cardinal water sign of Cancer this can produce a transformative shift in our subconscious, if we proceed with self-care. Otherwise, our thoughts will re-activate our worst fears, resulting in self-pity instead of self-care. In essence, this is a month of deeply meaningful communication, with the blending of air (thought) with water (feelings), especially because the Sun's rays are through the communicative lens of Gemini.

There will be a window of opportunity to use our brains for good and not evil, depending on the core of the individual, when the Sun and Mercury are both in Gemini from June 17th through the 20th. During the first two days the moon will be transiting in the mutable water sign of Pisces in the sixth house of healing. Time to connect with our inner or outer Guru! The next two days of the 19th and 20th the moon will be in Aries. Time to take action and implement the wisdom you attained from your Guru!

The Summer Solstice coincides with the ingress of the Sun in Cancer on June 21th. The energy of the cardinal water sign of Cancer increases. "The summer solstice occurs when the tilt of a planet's semi- axis, in either the northern or the southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star (sun) that it orbits" (wiki). We feel the pull of the inward movement of the Crab, symbol for the cardinal water sign of Cancer. The glyph of the Crab represents the union of male and female principles (Sperm and Egg). This is the "Gate of Men" through which the Soul descended from Heaven and entered the Human Body (Oken). The feeling shifts to… "those lazy, hazy, crazy, days of summer. Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer…" (Nat King Cole Lyrics)

The Cosmos completes the month of June with the New Moon in Cancer on June 27. The Sun, Moon and Jupiter are all transiting in the cardinal water sign of Cancer. In our neck of the sky, as our gaze takes us to the heavens where the stars of the show are positioned in the 10th and 11th house. Life is about evolution and so is the journey of the stars. This particular New Moon in Cancer gives us an opportunity to release our prejudicial views about humankind throughout the world. The Moon is Mother, Mother Earth. Our intention for the New Moon in Cancer is to be the nurturing protector of Life on Earth engendering its germination toward wholeness and unity of Oneness.
