SLO County Democrats Endorse in Local Races

The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party has endorsed candidates in local races.  Louis “Tony” Robles was endorsed for Grover Beach City Council, Erik Howell for Pismo Beach City Council and Vicki Meagher for Governing Board Member,  Lucia Mar Unified School District , Area 2.  The Party also endorsed a NO on Grover Beach Measure I-12, which proposes making Grover Beach a charter city.

Mike Heyl, Chair of the SLOCDP Endorsement Committee said that all the candidates bring a shared understanding of Democratic values and also would bring a fresh viewpoint to their respective governance organizations.  He explained that the Democratic Party opposes the Grover Beach measure because if it were to pass, it would exempt the City of Grover Beach from observing prevailing wage laws.  “This would deprive local workers of head-of-household jobs that are so important at this time” Heyl said.

SLOCDP delegates had previously endorsed Lois Capps and Bill Monning in their respective congressional and state senate districts. Gerald Manata, of Atascadero, has also been endorsed by State delegates for Assembly Member, 35th District.   Locally, they endorsed John Ashbaugh and Jeff Aranguena for San Luis Obispo City Council, Steven Martin for Paso Robles City Council and David Baldwin for Cuesta College trustee.
