Morro Bay Book Discussion Groups, Friends of the Library, and
Other Library Program News for December

by Christine Johnson

What a year for Morro Bay Friends of the Library in 2011!

Thanks to our various fundraisers, we have raised $26,700 for your Morro Bay Library!  Our largest fundraisers are our quarterly book sales, which generated $14,400 this year AND did very well in our new location at the Morro Bay Community Center.  All funds raised go directly to your library for materials, programs, and new technology.  For example, check out the new kids' computer in the Library — AMAZING! It's all right if adults try it out, too!  Just don't make the kiddos wait too long.

Thank you to our 442 members of the Friends who have joined or renewed this year.  We are celebrating a 9% increase in Friends membership including 146 first-time members — wow!

For those of you who plan ahead, here are our 2012 Book Sale dates:  February 11, May 5, August 18, and November 3, 2012 at the Morro Bay Community Center.

All the best in the new year!  Keep on reading and I'll see you at the Library!

Here are December's events at your Morro Bay Library.
