Each day we awaken with the faith that with daybreak the Sun will shine its light upon the earth as the dawning of a fresh new day with all its possibilities. As your Astro Guide, I will highlight significant planetary shifts that will be occurring during the current month that will prove to be interesting and helpful as you express yourself in the world.

May Day, May Day, The Earth is About to Rock Your World!

"I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars."
Walt Whitman

Maypole

The flow of our life force slowly stabilizes when the Sun transits through the fixed earth sign of Taurus. Taurus is symbolized by the Bull with its steadfast ability to manifest on the material plane. Thus, allowing for the discoveries from the previous sign of Aries to take form. Venus is the influential planetary sphere for the sign of Taurus. Their love is deep and solid like the earth.

The month of May begins with a celebration of exploding flower gardens of spring, signaling the arrival of "May Day." The folklore of May Day was first originated as a pagan mythology about the Roman Goddess Flora. May 1st or "May Day" is when the Festival of Flora was celebrated in honor of the Goddess Flora as well as the arrival of springtime when the flowers would be in full bloom. In Europe and Britain they celebrated May Day with a lively dance around the "maypole" in celebration of spring. The maypole was a tree trunk decorated with flowers. Maypoles were said to symbolize the axis mundi or World Tree. (See: May_Day). Maypole Festivals continue to be celebrated throughout the world.

The "Haymarket Affair" on May 4th, 1886 was also named May Day.  This was not a celebration. Rather workers gathered together on that auspicious day to protest against the long working hours. Haymarket Affair occurred in Chicago, Illinois. This tragic event began peacefully, yet ended in 11 deaths. The intention of the strike was to reduce the hours of the work day to eight hours. Good did come out of this situation. One of the results was to make May Day, "International Workers Day" to honor workers worldwide. The other significant occurrence was the formation of the Labor Movement.

The significance of the May Day events exemplifies the Taurean qualities of beauty of the earth and the firm foundation of the World Tree.

The Cosmos continues to shift and realign in the sky on May 2nd when the planet of love, Venus enters Aries, a cardinal fire sign. What a great time to put a spark in your love life. If alone, now is the time to attract that mate from your imagination. The Aries fire element will give you the courage necessary to be vulnerable, for it does take courage to open one’s heart to others.

On May 7th the astrological sign of Gemini enters in the sphere of its home planet of Mercury. This transit will help verbally express feelings that were ignited from the fire of Venus in Aries. Four days later Neptune in Pisces squares Mercury. When planets are at a 90 degree angle from each other they are considered "squared." According to Alan Oken (1988),"the release of the energy locked in by the square is inimitable to life and is destructive when released (p.386).

For months we have been experiencing an increase of explosive energy as a result of conflicting elements caused by the Cardinal Grand Cross. Time for transformation! For anyone who is willing to transmute the toxicity of one’s life, the time is NOW. Procrastinators are not allowed on this journey. Sun in Taurus will support all your endeavors.  Time to take off your rose colored glasses to clearly see what direction your life is headed. It is a great month for exciting communication as well as implementation of the Plan you set seed during last month’s NEW MOON.

Emotions might get intense during the Full Moon in Scorpio on May 14th. Scorpio, a fixed water sign, is represented by the Eagle. Saturn in Scorpio will be next to the Moon in Scorpio in the fourth house of home. Saturn represents the Father, with the Moon as the Mother. Earlier I alluded to the fact Venus in Aries and Mercury in Gemini will influence the way we deal with our emotions, especially our fears.
The Eagle is hovering to transport your fears to the Heavenly Soup Kitchen in the sky to then return with an alchemical salve for your heart and soul.

May 19th Mars in Libra turns direct. Since March 1st the planet Mars was in retrograde motion causing delays with forward movement of any physical projects. Sun enters the mutable air sign of Gemini on May 21st. Then, a week later we experience a Gemini New Moon on May 28th. During this particular New Moon, the Neuroscientists have an opportunity to tap into the well spring of the collective consciousness of the brain. The mind is a beautiful thing. More and more of Neuroscientists are discovering the importance of connecting the links on the highway of interwoven neurons by observing the mind, body and spiritual consciousness as clues to what is motivating each aspect of our lives. Each aspect of our lives contributes toward how, why and what are connecting the points in the brain. Soon we will experience the …….
