I Am Home!

by Roe Yeager

Morro Rock

How could I have been away for so long?  I left early May and arrived back on the 13th of January.  Whew, what a relief to again be on the Central Coast.  I missed so many things about this amazing area and now I am relishing in the bounty of all that I love here.

Heron / Rock
Herons

Thankfully, the Rock is still in place and the surfers are out in large numbers, while the beach goers stroll along the waters edge.  I have been greeted by an awesome Great Blue Heron, a huge Snowy Egret, several otters in the harbor, an abundance of water birds, exotic pelicans feeding and a most different rock art structure.

I am soothed with the sound of the fog horn, charmed with the songs of birds where I am staying and even lulled by the rush of traffic passing by.  I have walked the streets feeling comfortable and noticing some of the changes that have occurred.  Several businesses have closed, while others have relocated and others still boasting colorful maintenance to structures in need of a face lift.

While it seems as though it has been forever since I was here, I also feel as though I have simply stepped back into a world of amazement that I know as Morro Bay.  I want to just soak all of it in and relish the magical hold it has on me.  I consider myself to be so fortunate to even be able to be here.

Flowers

I have yet to take any pictures since my return so those from times prior accompany my meanderings.  I so enjoy viewing them as wonderful reminders of experiences had,  people met and friends made.  They remind me of the abundance of our world in nature and the beauty that is all around us.  How amazing it is to be able to touch it, if only with the eyes.

Few people know I have returned and I so am looking forward to reconnecting with all of them to discover all the events that have transpired in my absence.  I have found a few, where I stay, have also returned from their travels and I have already also come across a few friends I know.  All I can say is it is so good to be home.
