Each day we awaken with the faith that with daybreak the Sun will shine its light upon the earth as the dawning of a fresh new day with all its possibilities. As your Astro Guide, I will highlight significant planetary shifts that will be occurring during the current month that will prove to be interesting and helpful as you express yourself in the world.

The World Trumps the Fool

“If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships, the ability of peoples of all kinds to live together and work together, in the same world, at peace.”
Franklin Roosevelt

The month of February presents two key events that will be the highlight of my discussion. The first is the infamous “Mercury Retrograde” when all communications and travel goes haywire.  This impending mercury retrograde commences on February 6th, while in the water sign of Pisces. Pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, Icon. The mercury retrograde period will influence the fish to change directions toward inner reflection. Thus, the symbol for Pisces Icon becomes the circle with only a line cutting through the horizon. Sincere efforts of inward contemplation lead to wholeness.

Mercury will continue to be stationed in Pisces until the 12th when it transitions into the air sign of Aquarius, Icon, which is another “kettle of fish” all together. Aquarius is symbolized by a woman pouring water. Many think Aquarius is a water sign. However, it is an air sign. Caroline W. Casey (1998), clarifies the issue with this statement ..,” Its symbol is the Water Bearer, the woman pouring forth the waters of a new life…the water in this case is wave energy (p.50). Under the influence of Aquarius, the invisible vibrations of thought emit a powerful surge of electricity. The spiritually awakened Aquarius innately knows the time is right to communicate new and edgy ideas on a global level concerning the state of humanity and our earth. This urge to implement change will continue through February 28th when Mercury in Aquarius “goes direct” which is indicative of the planet moving forward.

Conversely the Sun, New Moon, and Neptune are in Pisces. Piscean energy has a natural impulse to go inward while holding on to the cultural consciousness of the world. Whereas, Mercury is the archetype of the Magician whose “sleight of hand” will mesmerize the most astute individual. Nevertheless, I trust the intentions of Mercury in Aquarius to illuminate the confusion that will occur during this New Moon.

Valentine’s Day occurs on February 14teenth. The origin of St. Valentine's Day was said to have begun with…” Christian Saint Valentius, who was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. Another story says that, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. Another story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell…. (Valentine's_Day). Upon further reflection, I noticed a cosmic connection to the present day constellation pattern of the Cosmos. In other words, the position of the planets on February 14teenth, 2014 could elicit similar global occurrences of imprisonment, persecution and healing.

However, the potentiality for healing reigns high on this celebrated day of Love, February 14teenth. The Full Moon is in the fiery sign of Leo as it opposes the Sun, (Our Life Force) and Mercury, (Our Minds) in Aquarius (the sign of Humanity and Change). Venus, the planet of Relationships and Love is in the sign of Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn opposes Jupiter in Cancer. Oppositions are not necessarily negative, although they certainly activate the cosmic forces. The planet Mars represents our physical and sexual desires. While it is stationed in Libra, Mars is seeking a balance in relationships as well as fairness and truthfulness. Uranus in Aries is opposing Mars in Libra. The warrior planet Mars attacks using the iron glove of Libra.

So, why is this cosmic soup ready to boil over with excitement? Solar flares will spark from the Sun in Aquarius. Electricity will spark from the planet Uranus (planetary ruler of Aquarius), especially when this planet is stationed in Aries, a fire sign. The receiver of these sparks is the moon in its fullness as it constellates in the romantic sign of Leo.  The cosmology of this special Valentine’s Day feels like an all-inclusive hug from the Universe.

"If you are waiting for anything in order to live and love without holding back, then you suffer. Every moment is the most important moment of your life. No future time is better than now to let down your guard and love."

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!  Valentine
