Find time in your busy life to do something fun for yourself!   Any woman, any age, any size can learn American Tribal Style (ATS) belly dance.  This "one class fits all" course is for you, especially if you want to:

    • pencil in some "me time" during the middle of your hectic week
    • learn something new while increasing core strength and musicality
    • move gracefully to a variety of world music tunes and dance techniques
    • make new friends in a private, safe setting
    • walk taller, and embrace your inner goddess

In ATS Level I, Leslie will help you build a foundation of classic dance moves borrowed from many cultures. San Francisco-based ATS founder Carolena Nericcio developed this art form to incorporate the beautiful hand motions and sweeping arm gestures of flamenco dancers from Spain, the grounded hip and leg work of the ghawazee dancers of North Africa, the more modern style of Egyptian cabaret, plus a few American moves you will recognize.  Learn the language of this dance form through subtle cues and low-impact moves.  You will be introduced to a set of dance phrases that can be communicated among other ATS dancers across the nation.   Improve your posture, self image, and core strength while connecting with women in a fun and energetic setting.  Begin your journey with Leslie by stepping onto the "Silk Road," and you may never stray far from it.

**Biographical Info:  Leslie Thompson has been belly dancing for almost 8 years and has performed all over this county in a number of troupes.   She has practiced yoga for ten years to provide balance to her dance regimen.  She was a percussionist in Cal Poly's Arab Music Ensemble for two years, and an officer in the Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Association.  She has just completed certification from Carolena Nericcio's Basic Skills and Teacher Training Institutes for American Tribal Style Belly Dance.  You can reach her at 805 550 6944.
