June gloom grips my mood every year. Relief from the gray is assured by a short jaunt to Cayucos or Avila Beach, dependable sunny oasis along the Central  Coast.

                                                                             

 

March, 2012             The Magic of Theatre

 

Some war stories I've heard from Central Coast theatre company members (PCPA, SLO Little Theatre, The Great American Melodrama) are that the costume designer quit the week the show opened, taking the costumes with her/him; the cast works all day and all night to recreate something like the original designs; doubts are high, but by opening, the entire cast is costumed, and the audience is none the wiser. The magic of theatre.

While logging into my Yahoo email account recently, I noted in Yahoo News a recently published study in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking. It reports that people who spent less time socializing with friends in cyberspace and more time socializing with them in real life were less likely to report they were unhappy.
