Have a Wonderful Ne Year - Whatever That Entails

by Roe Yeager

Morro Rock

A new year can mean a lot of things.  To some it is the beginning of what they hope is a better time for them.  For others it is a respite from the previous year.  For me, it is a time of reflection on what, if anything, I would like to change about my life.

Some of you may know that I have spent the past six months traveling north along the Pacific Coastline and up to Port Townsend along Puget Sound.  I am currently in the Sacramento area and imagine I will be back on the Central Coast by mid-January.

So, as I reflect, I suspect I will do further traveling to expand my awareness of other cultures and ways of living.  I seem to be constantly comparing everything and everyone to what I know of as Morro Bay.  I have come to recognize that the energy I love so much in Morro Bay is uplifting and energizing for me.  This is something I feel is important for me as life continues.

I have discovered that many other areas have calming and peaceful feels to them and others are simply so-so.  I came across several areas in my travels that are economically depressed and other areas that seem to be flourishing and thriving.  I met many wonderful people in each of these places and that is something I was so glad to see.  People, regardless of the economy, are warm and welcoming and helpful everywhere and this truly lifts my spirit. I am so grateful to have shared time with them.

There are so many experiences and places for me to remember with fondness and gratitude.  I am very blessed to have had the opportunity for such an adventure and even more blessed to be able to return to Morro Bay, a city and area I treasure deeply.  I am uncertain how long I will stay before my next adventure to see and experience more of our country, but I know each moment in Morro Bay will be cherished.

Beach

I look forward to having fudge from Crill's, pastries from the French bakery, lunches at The Bayside and sharing time with all of my wonderful friends in the area.  I am also looking forward to communing with the Rock and the beaches and the sea life, which I enjoy so much.

Sunset

Keep your eyes peeled for me when I roll into town and again traverse the streets, satisfy my sweet tooth, indulge in wonderful foods (and wines), and share precious times and moments with my most awesome friends here. This is home.
