A New Morro Bay After Dec. 10?
A momentous event is scheduled in Morro Bay on Monday, December 10, when a new majority of the City Council — mayor Jamie Irons, council member Christine Johnson, and holdover council member Noah Smukler — are scheduled to be sworn in — only slightly less momentous than their unprecedented election in the city primary election last June 5 when they swept into office, the first time three council members have been elected in a primary in city history. WWTP Hearing May Be Coming Next Door
It now appears that the long-awaited and momentous California Coastal Commission meeting to decide the location and structure of a new Morro Bay-Cayucos wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) will be held in Pismo Beach in January, 25 miles or 32 minutes from Morro Bay, and not 239 miles or four hours and 16 minutes from Morro Bay as Morro Bay and Cayucos had urged last August. Monday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the Vet's Hall
The first meeting of the new City Council will take place on Tuesday, December 11 at 6pm in the Vet's Hall. The MB Girl Scouts will be leading a flag ceremony. In her announcement of this event, one of our new council members, Christine Johnson, suggested that citizens consider speaking at the event. She added, "Your voice at Public Comment is MOST welcome! Please plan to participate in the business of your City. Every voice counts — and the election in June was proof of that. Stay tuned in . . . find your passion for an issue . . . participate! The success of Morro Bay depends upon all of us — together."

The central coast of California is one of the most beautiful places in the world. For me, being able to live here is such a wonderful feeling. Being able to stop and photograph a gorgeous sunset on my way home feels almost like heaven. One of the nicest things about being a photographer here on the central coast is that there is such comradery among fellow photographers. The friendships I have developed with other photographers here are an unexpected and wonderful surprise. In my opinion central coast photographers are the best. Read More |
