Each day we awaken with the faith that with daybreak the Sun will shine its light upon the earth as the dawning of a fresh new day with all its possibilities. As your Astro Guide, I will highlight significant planetary shifts that will be occurring during the current month that will prove to be interesting and helpful as you express yourself in the world.

The Element of Water Springs Forth to Renew Your Spirit

by Lucille M. Bosco

"Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day,
But when I follow the serried multitude of the stars
In their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth;
I ascend to Zeus himself to feast me on ambrosia,
the food of the Gods." (Gauquelin, 1967, 204)

The Month of July

During the month of July, the element of Water is the director of our actions with Cancer as the star of the show.

Let's begin with the Sun in Cancer. For the first three weeks of July, the glorious summer Sun is in the Water element of Cancer until July 22th, when it transitions into the fire element of Leo. While the energies are affected by the element of Water, our emotions will be heightened. Our concerns will be directed toward our homes, families, security and the global home of our planet Earth.

We will communicate quite differently than we did during the month of June when the element of air (Gemini) took center stage. The planetary ruler for the sign of Cancer is the Moon. The Moon is our night sun that subtly and deeply nurtures our inner nature. Be especially alert during the New Moon in the sign of Cancer on July 8th. Allow your instincts to be your personal guide when making decisions or beginning projects. (New Moons are opportune to set in motion something you have been putting off.)

The three forms of the element of Water — liquid, frozen, and gaseous — coincides with the three Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces as the alchemical vehicle of expressing our emotional state of being. In its initial form, liquid (Cancer) gives a quality of heaviness to the expression of one's emotional state of being. When water is frozen (Scorpio) the emotional state of being turns to an icy coldness that can only be melted by the nurturing rays of the Sun in Cancer. Neptune in Pisces completes the alchemical transformation of the water element into a vaporous steam of Spirit (Pisces) to enrich the essence of one's emotional state of being.

As we continue to gaze upon the constellations of the stars, we discover the notable aspect of Jupiter in Cancer from June 26, 2013 through July 16, 2014. The planet Jupiter signifies the principle of expansion. Jupiter in Cancer will urge us to expansively express our emotions beyond our personal borders with the intention of healing our community and environment. Jupiter in Cancer will be in opposition to Pluto in Capricorn (earth).

The sign of Capricorn is 180 degrees from Cancer on the wheel of life. On the global map this aspect could cause financial, institutional, and environmental upheavals as well as a further upsurge of religious fanaticism. The planet Saturn is in the Water sign of Scorpio which adds an element of intensity to the surging emotional state of July. A quote by M. Moore & M. Douglas, (1978) that expresses Saturn in Scorpio, "Power derives from control of the basic forces of nature."

If that wasn't enough, we will still be feeling the effects of the shift of direction during the month of June for the planets Neptune and Mercury.  Neptune in Pisces (Water) will be retrograde from June 7, 2013 until November 13, 2013. The planet Neptune was named after the mythological god of the sea whose symbol is the trident. The sheer shift of this planetary body can cause a further descent into the subconscious sea of our emotions.

Mercury, the planetary body that rules all forms of communication, entered a retrograde period on June 26, 2013 until July 20, 2013. When a planet has entered a retrograde period, it appears to stop…"and then move backward along the plane of the ecliptic as though retracing their path (Moore & Douglas, 1978, p.616). During this retrograde period, Mercury is in Cancer (water). This will present opportunities to renew broken relationships with family and friends, reveal secrets, and renew our relationship with our inner selves by drinking from the eternal spring of love.

Be in the NOW or else you might miss the opportunity to renew, reveal, and replenish your life.
