Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom to Dine with Democratic Stars

Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom will be the honored guest at the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party's inaugural "Dining with the Stars" event.  The party will be held on February 24, at 6:00 PM at The Fairways at Dairy Creek.

The Lieutenant Governor will join John Laird, California's Resources Secretary in celebrating local Democrat volunteers and organizations.  A no-host cocktail hour will open the evening, followed by dinner and dancing.

"We are delighted to welcome the Lieutenant Governor to the Central Coast", said Pat Harris, Chair of the SLO County Democratic Party.  "We have been working on the arrangements for months and we look forward to introducing him to the people of the county."  Harris said the fundraiser event will help to fund expanded office space and increased visibility during the 2012 campaign season.

The Lieutenant Governor will also be the main attraction at a private reception to be held with event sponsors at Tolosa Vineyards.

For more information on the gala event, visit SLO CD, or call the Democratic Headquarters at 805-546-8499.    Tickets for the dinner are $100 each and are available online at:  Act Blue.com

Sea Glass – Festival – Cayucos – Central Coast – Quaint Beach Town – Sea Glass

Find out why people get so excited about sea glass at the annual Cayucos Sea Glass Festival on March 10-11, 2012.  Sea glass enthusiasts, craftspeople and artists will be selling and displaying their creations.  For those who want to learn about the international hobby of sea glass collecting, this is the place.  Who would have thought that treasure seekers would go after shards of glass, made smooth by years of salt water and sand?  Finding sea glass on the beach can be a rewarding hobby, especially when a rare piece is discovered.  Color, shape, markings and evidence of history are all factors that come into play.

The festival concept was inspired in 2010 by a fellowship of Cayucos sea glass collectors who became friends and decided to put on an event. The first festival (March 2011), sponsored by the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce, was a surprising success story with over 3,000 attendees.  With added sponsorships and a seasoned team, the event has been expanded to 2 days with a larger venue and more vendors.

Cayucos, the quaint beach town on the Central Coast, hosts the Sea Glass Festival along with “A Taste of Cayucos,” which offers live entertainment and food from local eateries, wineries and a brewery.

When:  March 10-11, 2012
Where: Cayucos, at the foot of the pier
Time:  Saturday, 10-5; Sunday, 10-4
Cost:  Entrance fee to festival $3.00
Food and drink prices vary at the Taste
Proceeds go to the Cayucos 4th of July firework display.
Information:  www.cayucoschamber.com, 805/995-3681.
