San Luis Coastal Teachers Association News

A teacher at Morro Bay High School and two volunteers at the Monarch Grove Elementary School in Los Osos are among those honored by the California Teachers Association and the San Luis Coastal Teachers Association for their contributions to education or to the local association.

The recipients of awards are Bruce Badrigian, an English teacher at Morro Bay High School; Judy Williamson, librarian at Bishops Peak/Teach Elementary School in San Luis Obispo, and Lori Olson and Jennifer Codron, volunteers at the Monarch Grove Elementary School in Los Osos.

Badrigian is president of the San Luis Coastal Teachers Association (SLCTA) and received the Local WHO (We Honor Ours) award for his service to the SLCTA.

Williamson was given the Gold Outstanding Citizen award for her service to education. Olson and Codron also received Gold Outstanding Citizen awards for their voluntary service to education.

Nominations for the awards are made by area local associations, including the the San Miguel Teachers Association, Atascadero District Teachers Association, Templeton Teachers Association, Lucia Mar Unified Teachers Association, Guadalupe Teachers Association, Orcutt Educators Association, Santa Maria Elementary Education Association, Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Faculty Association, Paso Robles Public Educators, Cayucos Teachers Association, Coast Cambria Teachers Association, Education Association of Pleasant Valley, Shandon Teachers Association, and San Luis Coastal Teachers Association.

The awards were scheduled to be presented at a dinner on April 30 at the Madonna Inn.
